The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Pru West has received a consignment of laptops under the government’s One Coder Initiative aimed at promoting digital literacy and strengthening Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education in basic schools within the district.
The presentation forms part of efforts to equip students with essential digital skills in coding, programming, and basic computer usage, in line with the government’s broader agenda to build a technology-driven economy.
Speaking after receiving the equipment, the DCE expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely and critical to preparing young people in the district for the modern digital world. He noted that the laptops will be distributed to selected schools and ICT learning centres to enhance teaching and practical ICT training.
He further emphasized that the initiative will help bridge the digital gap between rural and urban schools, ensuring that students in Pru West are not left behind in the global shift toward technology and innovation.
Education stakeholders in the district have also welcomed the development, noting that access to ICT tools will significantly improve learners’ understanding of coding and related digital skills, while sparking interest in science and technology careers.
The One Coder Initiative is part of a national drive to integrate coding and digital skills into basic education, preparing a new generation of learners to meet the demands of the 21st-century job market.
