The Hon. Regional Minister extended warm welcome to all members present and informed the house of the purpose of his visit. In his remarks, the Regional Minister mentioned that his team was present to inaugurate the spatial planning and technical sub-committees of the Assembly and also supervise the swearing-in of members on both sub-committees. He extended congratulatory messages to members appointed to serve on the committees and commended the DCE together with the DCD and all officers involved for working hard to bring the two sub-committees to life.
The Hon. Regional Minister outlined some of the functions, roles and responsibilities of members of the two sub-committees and charged them to holistically be guided by them in the discharge of their duties. He also encouraged members to be guided by the customs and laws of the land and also be accountable to the people.
The Hon. Regional Minister outlined the composition of membership of both sub-committees and posited that members are expected to apply their technical expertise to ensure proper planning. Against this backdrop, he advised members to deliberately earmark and allocate lands for various departments and agencies of government such as security services, government workers, industrial enclaves, etc in order to attract investors into the District.
The Hon. Regional Minister urged members to judiciously pursue payable rates and fees in order to improve the IGF situation of the District. He consequently charged members to demonstrate collective leadership and join forces in order to measure up to the task ahead.
