Supervisor and Enumerator on the field

The Integrated Business Establishment Survey (IBES) was an economic census conducted on economic units in all sectors of Ghana’s economy. This included all establishments engaged in some economic activity. The exercise was structured in two phases, IBES I and IBES II.

Phase I was a census of all establishments/businesses in Ghana to produce a business register for Ghana whiles IBES II focused on a sample survey which deals with operational activities of the establishments in all sectors of the economy. The Register serves as a sampling frame for the selection of establishments for the second phase of IBES.

The census was conducted on Institutional Agriculture, Industry and Service sectors of the economy. The 2024 IBES I focused on the economic activities of both households and non-households.

The purpose of Phase 1 was to provide up-to-date information and accurate description of all establishments in Ghana. The information provided would contribute to planning and decision-making to improve productivity and sustainability of businesses/ establishments in the country.

This exercise was carried out in all Metropolitans, Municipalities and District Assemblies within the country and Pru West District was not an exception.

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) zoned the District into 3 supervisory areas (SZ1, SZ2 and SZ 3) and 13 Enumeration Zones (EZs). The Ghana Statistical Service engaged 18 team members; 1 District Lead, 3 Supervisors and 14 Enumerators in the District to conduct the exercise.
