The Ghana Productive safety Net Project phase II (GPSNP2) is a World Bank/Government of Ghana supported Project which is being implemented by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) with the aim of supporting to strengthen safety net systems that improve the productivity of the poor. Pru West District Assembly in the Bono East Region is one of the beneficiary District out of the Hundred (100) enrolled Districts on to the phase two (2) across the country.

DETAILS OF SUBPROJECTS
Climate Change Mitigation Intervention (CCMI) and Small Earth Dam are the two subprojects the District is benefiting out of the three (3). This Subproject involves the rehabilitation of degraded communal lands using cashew trees in six (6) communities and rehabilitation of a Small Earth Dam. The CCMI Subproject aims at arresting the climate change menace in the Pru West District, Ghana and the larger community of the world.
In an effort to achieving this goal, Labour Intensive Public Works (LIPW) is the tool used in this agenda where the poor and the vulnerable are targeted to be empowered financially to support their livelihood through LIPW.
A total of two hundred and thirty Five (235) beneficiaries have been targeted and enrolled at Abua, Komfourkrom, Cherembo, Dama Nkwanta, Buipe and Adaprase with 49 hectares undergoing rehabilitation.
It is good to note that 80,000 cashew seedlings were nursed and distributed under PERD in 2023.
