Pru East District has one of the largest rice valleys in the Bono East Region (Estimated 11,063 hectares). However, these valleys are undeveloped making rice cultivation very difficult. As part of the government efforts at ensuring food security and job creation in the Country, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) is currently partnering the Brazilian government to develop the rice valleys in Pru East District. The partnership includes the provision of modern machineries such as tractors, combine harvesters, Power tillers, and the Technology to increase rice yield from its current 3.7 Mt/Ha to an average of 7 Mt/Ha for our farmers which would make Pru East District and Bono East Region a major rice production area / rice hub in Ghana.
